Milwaukee Cooperative Milk Producers (MCMP) was organized in 1916 by a group of dairy farmers living in and around Milwaukee and Waukesha counties. Back in those early years there was a need to regulate handlers to assure dairy farmers of accurate weights and measures and also to protect and control prompt payment for milk. Throughout our existence we have grown in membership to now represent over 700 dairy producers.
Our field staff works with nearly 40 dairy plants providing related field services throughout our membership area. It remains our goal and commitment to collectively bargain for fair returns and equitable treatment of dairy farmers in the Order 30, 32 & 33 marketplace. Our mission is to provide service that cannot be achieved as individuals.
On the national scene, we are a strong voice by lobbying with other organizations to help develop and mold policy issues.
Milwaukee is a charter member of the Midwest Dairy Coalition, thus proving that there is strength through unity. Milwaukee Milk achieves effective lobbying efforts with other state dairy leaders through membership in the following organizations:
- Lakeshore Federated Dairy Cooperative
- Cooperative Network
- CN Dairy Committee
- Wisconsin Agri-Business Council
- Wisconsin Livestock Identification Consortium
- National Dairy Leaders Conference
Representation at Federal Order 30, 32 & 33 hearings help assure stability and balance in orderly milk marketing from farm to market.
Milwaukee Milk Producers is ranked 14th out of 50 in Hoards Dairymen's annual National Co-op survey.
