Frequently Asked Questions Related to Business Operation

What are your hours?

Bacteria Samples are accepted 8am to 4pm. Monday thru Friday.
Nitrate Samples are accepted 8am to 4pm Monday thru Thursday and until 2pm on Fridays. After 2pm there is an additional charge for Nitrate Analysis.

Those hours don’t work for me what can you do for me?

There is an iced cooler in the rear of our building that can be used before or after hours.

Do you take samples on Saturdays?

We do not have regular hours of operation on Saturdays. Use the sample drop off cooler.

We do come in on Saturdays to evaluate Fridays samples. But we do not come in at a regular time. If all of our samples on a Friday were set-up at noon then we come in after noon an Saturday to report them.

The analyst checks the cooler upon arrival and when leaving. If there is a sample in there it is set up for incubation. The methodology we use allows us a read window of 24 to 48 hours so any sample set up on Saturday can incubate until Monday morning. It is possible to miss the time interval when the analyst is in and still be with in the hold time for a sample dropped in the cooler on a Saturday, especially if the sample is collected on a Saturday.

Be aware that Nitrate samples submitted on a Saturday might have an additional charge associated with them if they have to be run with in the 48-hour hold time. (An example would be a sample you collect on Friday that is discovered in the cooler on Saturday)

What about Holidays?

Holidays are handled like Saturdays. Additionally, we send out Holiday notices to keep you informed.

What about in an emergency?

As a client, you would have access to the lab 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.

How do I start an account?

Simple bring in a business card or company letterhead. We are looking for your business name, billing address, phone and fax numbers.

How do I get sample kits?

We have general bacteria kits available when you drop off your samples.

If you call the day before, we will have kits with personalized paperwork for you. The Sample Report form will have your business name, address, phone and fax numbers on it. This saves you some time when filling out the form for sample submission.

If you are not coming in, sample kits are delivered to your business location via UPS. If we receive your kit request by noon, you will probably receive your kits the next day.

Basically, just call and let us know what you want and when you want it.

Do you accept samples in bottles and the forms from other labs?

Yes we do, often we will re-write the sample information on our form so that the correct lab identification information is with the sample result.

Does the lab keep copies of the results?

Yes, for 15 years as a minimum. We will probably keep them forever. Original results can not be disposed of. If the original result is to be removed from the laboratory record, the client must be contacted and then accept the original via a documented document custody procedure.

Do you send results to the WDNR?

When instructed by you, results will be sent to the WDNR. First well samples are always sent to the WDNR, it is required.

Public water supply samples have more stringent rules. As a certified lab, we are required to notify the WDNR when a public water supply tests coliform positive. We would call you to let you know and remind you that notification is a requirement of a certified lab.

How do we pay you?

You will be invoiced the first week of the month for samples analyzed the previous month. The invoice will be itemized identifying each sample and what was done for that sample.

Terms are 30 days net with 1.5% additional on late balances.
